The BARE Bear Story

Life is dirty. Kids are messy. And the headlines caught our attention. We needed a way to clean them that wasn't packed with chemicals, wrapped in plastic, or thrown away after one use.

So we created BARE Bear.

Certified organic cotton cloths and accessories. Thermal stainless steel. Portuguese cork. Pure materials, elevated design. Nordic minimalism — with the purity every child deserves and the style you crave.

That's BARE Bear.

And here's our story.

Meet our founders, Shari and Annie.

Shari and Annie, BARE Bear founders

They met at work over a decade ago and became fast friends.

Since then: weddings, babies, countless dinners — and now, this.

Fast forward to 2024. Both are now parents. Shari has twin boys who don't just embrace mess — they become one with it.

Between clean ups, Shari starts questioning what's really in the "pure" wipes she trusts to clean and protect her boys. Microplastics. Chemicals. Turns out it IS pure something — just not something that should be touching her children.

To top it off, those "convenient" disposables are leaving mountains of waste, and that doesn't sit well either.

Then one morning on the school run, the boys' porridge explodes — everywhere. Hands, faces, uniforms, coats — all covered. Eeks! No wipes!

Shari digs into her bag, finds a muslin, douses it with water, and just like that — sorted.

💡 Of COURSE! That's it!

The purity of organic cotton and water that midwives have always recommended AND the soft gentle muslins mums have always trusted. Simple. Beautiful. Perfect.

That day, Shari starts designing.

Soon after, she's having dinner with Annie and shares her idea. Annie's response: "Love it!"

Then Annie describes a recent playdate:

"This mum has reusable wipes in a plastic tub (yeah we know, PLASTIC!). The kids just grab them to wipe their hands and faces. Great idea, right? Except they smelled disgusting."

They both gag. Turns out, other than shedding microplastics — and looking quite tragic — plastic is a breeding ground for germs and smells.

Shari: "Hey, do you want to join me?"

Annie: "Absolutely!"

They talk to mums, refine the designs, and launch on Kickstarter in March 2025.

That same week, headlines break about the dangers of microplastics and the increased risks for children and babies. They hit their goal in under 24 hours and are named a "Project We Love."

Now when life gets dirty, instead of reaching for a chemical cocktail wrapped in plastic — or a tragic-looking, utilitarian, non-organic cloth — we can just go BARE.
